Cabinet Painting Cost in Lincoln, NE
No cabinet company in Lincoln publishes a price. Not one. The standard practice is to book a visit, spend an hour in your kitchen and then produce a number, which means you cannot find out whether this work is even in your budget without giving up an evening.
We think that is backwards, so everything is on this page: painting, refinishing, refacing, vanities and built-ins, with real ranges for real Lincoln kitchens and a plain explanation of what moves you within each one. There is also a door-count estimator below that will give you a ballpark in about fifteen seconds.
These are genuine working ranges, not teaser pricing designed to get us in the door. A written quote after an in-home measure will land inside the range shown here or we will explain in writing why it does not.

What Cabinet Painting Costs in Lincoln
Priced by door and drawer front count, because that is what actually drives the labour.
| Kitchen size | Doors + drawer fronts | Doors only | Doors + boxes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small / galley | Up to 20 | $2,300 – $3,300 | $2,900 – $4,200 |
| Average Lincoln kitchen | 24 – 34 | $3,300 – $5,400 | $4,200 – $6,800 |
| Large with island | 36 – 48 | $5,400 – $7,600 | $6,800 – $9,500 |
| Large, grain fill, dark to white | 40+ | $7,000 – $11,500 | $9,000 – $15,000 |
Doors-only is a legitimate way to reduce cost and it works well when the existing box and face-frame finish already reads as neutral. It does not work if you are going from dark wood to white, because the contrast between new doors and old frames is obvious.
Full detail on the process behind these numbers is on the kitchen cabinet painting page.
Estimate Your Kitchen
Count your doors and drawer fronts, pick your options, and get a ballpark. This is an estimate, not a quote. A written quote needs an in-home measure.
Door-count estimator
Estimated range
$4,200 – $6,800
A ballpark from the published ranges on this page. It cannot see condition: failing previous paint, water damage or doors needing repair all change the number, which is what the free in-home measure is for.
What Moves the Price
Six factors, in descending order of how much they actually matter.
| Factor | Effect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Door + drawer front count | Largest single driver | Every front is handled, prepped, sprayed twice and refitted individually |
| Boxes or doors only | 20 – 30% | Box and face-frame spraying is on-site work behind containment, which is slower |
| Grain filling on oak | 25 – 40% | Paste filler is worked in, cured and sanded flush, often twice |
| Dark to white | 10 – 15% | More coats to achieve opacity, more shop time |
| Interior box painting | 15 – 25% | Every shelf comes out and every interior surface is coated |
| Hardware changes | Modest | Old holes filled and re-drilled to a new pattern |
Cabinet Refinishing & Restaining Cost
Usually higher than painting the same kitchen. Here is the honest reason.
| Kitchen size | Doors + drawer fronts | Refinishing | Painting, for comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small / galley | Up to 20 | $3,800 – $5,600 | $2,900 – $4,200 |
| Average Lincoln kitchen | 24 – 34 | $5,600 – $8,900 | $4,200 – $6,800 |
| Large with island | 36 – 48 | $8,900 – $12,500 | $6,800 – $9,500 |
| Spot repair, 2 – 4 doors | n/a | $650 – $1,400 | n/a |
Stripping is why. Removing a failed finish without damaging the wood underneath is slow hand work and it has to be complete, because any residue left in the grain shows through the new stain as a shadow. Painting skips all of it. Full detail is on the cabinet refinishing page.
Cabinet Refacing Cost in Lincoln
Roughly two to three times painting, and roughly half of replacement.
| Kitchen size | Doors + drawer fronts | Paint-grade | Stain-grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small / galley | Up to 20 | $6,500 – $9,000 | $8,000 – $11,000 |
| Average Lincoln kitchen | 24 – 34 | $9,000 – $14,000 | $11,500 – $17,500 |
| Large with island | 36 – 48 | $14,000 – $19,500 | $17,500 – $24,000 |
Worth it when the door profile is the problem rather than the colour. A cathedral arch or a heavy raised panel does not modernise with paint. Not worth it if you simply want a different colour, in which case painting delivers most of the result for a third of the money. The comparison is laid out on the cabinet refacing page.
Bathroom Vanity & Built-In Cost
| Scope | Standalone | Added to a kitchen project |
|---|---|---|
| Powder room / single vanity | $550 – $900 | from $350 |
| Single vanity + countertop | $950 – $1,500 | from $700 |
| Double vanity | $900 – $1,400 | from $600 |
| Three-bathroom package | $1,900 – $3,200 | from $1,300 |
| Laundry room cabinets | $700 – $1,300 | $400 – $750 |
| Mudroom lockers | $800 – $1,500 | $450 – $900 |
| Office built-ins / bookcases | $900 – $2,400 | $600 – $1,600 |
The right-hand column is the one to notice. If we are already in the house for a kitchen, everything else is close to marginal cost, because mobilisation, masking, colour mixing and shop setup are already paid for. See bathroom vanity refinishing and built-in cabinet painting for the detail.

Cabinet Painting Cost FAQs
How much does it cost to paint kitchen cabinets in Lincoln, NE?
An average Lincoln kitchen of 24 to 34 doors and drawer fronts costs $4,200 to $6,800 with the boxes included, or $3,300 to $5,400 for doors only. Small galley kitchens start around $2,900 and large kitchens with an island run to $9,500. Grain filling on oak adds 25 to 40 percent on top.
Is it cheaper to paint or refinish cabinets?
Painting is cheaper, typically by fifteen to thirty percent on the same kitchen. Refinishing requires stripping the old finish completely before anything else can happen, which is slow hand work. Painting goes over a scuff-sanded surface. An average Lincoln kitchen is $4,200 to $6,800 painted against $5,600 to $8,900 refinished.
Does it cost more if I live outside Lincoln?
No. Omaha, Seward, Waverly, Crete, Ashland and Beatrice are quoted at the same rates with no travel surcharge on a full kitchen. The only exception is a very small standalone job a long way out, where we will ask you to bundle it or schedule it for a day we are already in that county.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, on scheduling, with the balance due at the walk-through once you have inspected the work under a light. We send the $2 million liability certificate before we take the deposit rather than after you ask for it.
How much does cabinet refacing cost?
Refacing an average Lincoln kitchen runs $9,000 to $14,000 in paint-grade doors, or $11,500 to $17,500 in stain-grade. That is roughly two to three times the cost of painting the same kitchen and roughly half the cost of full replacement, which generally starts around $18,000.
Why do you publish prices when nobody else does?
Because it is the first thing everybody wants to know and the last thing anyone will tell them. Holding pricing back exists to get a salesperson into your kitchen, not to serve you. Our ranges are wide enough to be honest about genuine variation and narrow enough to be useful. A written quote after an in-home measure will land inside the range shown here, or we will explain in writing why it does not.
How accurate is the estimator on this page?
It is a ballpark built from the same ranges published above, and for a straightforward kitchen it usually lands within about fifteen percent of the final written quote. What it cannot see is condition: a previous coat of failing paint, water damage under the sink, or doors that need repair before any finish work. Those are the things an in-home measure is for.
